Autumn

The International Contemporary Music Festival ‘Warszawska Jesień’ (Warsaw Autumn) is one of the most famous musical events in our city, but it’s not the only one. The city has a rich offering of cultural events in autumn. The Jazz Jamboree, The Warsaw Film Festival and Warsaw Gallery Weekend are only a few from a long list of fall events. In October, the trees sparkle with a mix of gold, red and brown. To really appreciate the beautiful fall colors, we suggest a bike ride through some of our most beautiful park areas: from Wilanów through Królikarnia, Łazienki Park, Ujazdów Park, Saski Gardens, Krasiński Gardens and Żeromski Park - all the way to Kępa Potocka Park - or even further, to the Bielański woods and Kampinos National Park. A sunny autumn day in Warsaw is breathtaking!

Autumn brings more culinary highlights to our city. Street vendors and outdoor markets offer an abundance of autumn produce, such as fresh plums, pears and tomatoes. Warsaw residents spend their autumn evenings canning and preserving fruits and vegetables - a deeply rooted tradition, that is more than just a hipster trend. Autumn is also pumpkin season! When temperatures begin to drop, local restaurants begin preparing specialty pumpkin dishes in a myriad of sophisticated ways. A tour of Warsaw restaurants is definitely on the mandatory “to-do” list this autumn!

Spring

Warsaw is inherently full of greenery. When the first leaves and flowers begin to appear, it feels like the city is coming to life! Springtime also triggers an amazing energy in the people of Warsaw.

Warsaw is inherently full of greenery. When the first leaves and flowers begin to appear, it feels like the city is coming to life! Springtime also triggers an amazing energy in the people of Warsaw. Instead of inside, they choose to take their coffee outside - as it’s now possible to shed a layer or two of their winter clothing. They begin lining up at neighborhood ice cream shops, offering handmade, natural ice cream. Our favorite, Sucre is just a few steps from Autor’s front door!

Spring is also a time of picnics and outdoor events organized by various scientific institutions and cultural and non-government organizations. During this time, it seems every district in Warsaw has at least one of these fun events.

Springtime in Warsaw also means sports. No one is ever surprised when a running marathon, football match or bicycle tour causes traffic jams. For us it’s normal! Warsaw is where it all happens!

Summer

We love summer in our city! Traffic jams disperse and swarms of bicycles fill the streets. The bustle of daily life moves outdoors. Restaurants and cafes set up outside dining areas, so guests may take in the aura of summer in Warsaw.

Nightlife in the summer months is concentrated mostly on the banks of the Vistula River. Event organizers consistently offer a wide range of cultural attractions such as picnics, outdoor cinemas, concerts, and open-air performances. We play our part in bringing fun events to our favorite city, as well. Each year we celebrate Mamastudio’s birthday with a huge picnic event in the park, on the last Saturday in June, with food, music, sport and great fun for the whole family

Although Warsaw is a very urban city, it still has a lot to offer nature lovers, especially in Spring - from beautiful city parks and wooded areas to the beaches on the left bank of the Vistula River. Waterbuses, boats and kayaks provide beautiful panoramic views of the city, which can only be appreciated from the river’s perspective.

Summer also brings a veritable explosion of flavors to lovers of fresh fruits and vegetables. You won’t find strawberries, raspberries, cherries, blueberries and tomatoes as fresh and delicious in any other European capital. It’s the perfect time to explore Warsaw dining options that offer a variety of seasonal specialties.

Winter

Winter in Warsaw can be cold, snowy and slippery. But this doesn’t stand in the way of people with warm hearts. During the winter months we enjoy spending time with our friends and family.

Winter in Warsaw can be cold, snowy and slippery. But this doesn’t stand in the way of people with warm hearts. During the winter months we enjoy spending time with our friends and family. Each year, before Christmas, we gather for our annual ‘Śledzik’ party (Named for the pickled herring dishes prepared and served in many different ways). It’s a time of closeness and to raise a special toast to the coming year!

Winter in Warsaw also means shopping. There are many different types of local markets and shopping experiences to choose from. Be sure to experience a traditional holiday bazaar with everything from folk crafts to traditional foods. Each year these markets attract crowds of Warsaw locals, eager to find unique, one-of-a-kind gift items and souvenirs. During the winter is also when renowned Warsaw art galleries offer special fine art sales, that art connoisseurs of every kind will appreciate.

Another unique winter attraction in Warsaw is cross-country skiing (granted there’s snow). It’s easy to rent skis and start sliding down paths of the Powsin district, through Skaryszewski Park. Or you can choose a more exciting route along the right bank of the Vistula. But don’t worry! You won’t come across any bears in the city, and when it’s time to warm up, our homes are warmer than in other European capitals thanks to our really big radiators!

When we begin to feel we need a vitamin boost, we eat preserved sauerkraut and pickles. And if we want something sweet, we have our jams and fruit preserves from autumn. It helps remind us that summer will be coming soon. At Autor, we like to share our home-prepared preserves with all our guests.
